Challenging Play

If you have never been to the NZSU website, it is a great place to see what all the Kiwi demonstrators have been up too.  On the side you will see a list of demonstrators blogs that automatically updates as each blog is updated.  Our NZSU coordinator also chooses  the best projects of the week to highlight & this week she has given us a challenge to make a card using one of the Creative Combinations from the Colour Coach.

The Colour Coach is great when you are stuck & don’t know what colours will work together & some of them, like the ones that I have chosen will take you right out of your comfort zone.

This card uses the colour combination of Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant & Lucky Limeade.  Other than the crooked photography I’m not sure that I like this (or the next one!) as it is not really my style.  I decided that I wanted to use our new paper doilies so I started by stamping the car from the Road to Happiness on to one.   That is when I discovered that the doilies is actually textured which adds a bit of a pattern to the image.  Not sure if you can see it or not but but I stamped the flower stamp around the edge with Wisteria Wonder & then used Champaign Shimmer Paint to highlight the centres & added a few rhinestones as well.

Once again dreadful photography, but this card is meant to be crooked.  This colour combo is Elegant Eggplant, Summer Starfruit & Baja Breeze & features the ferris wheel from the Feeling Sentimental SAB set.

If you don’t have a Colour Coach yet, make sure you put it on your next order!

Happy Stamping!

A Whole Lot of Love

Valentines day is just around the corner & for those of you that happen to have a special someone in your life are panicking thinking "what am I going to get him/her"?  In these financially hard times why show you really love them by creating something yourself.
I was asked to speak at a women's club the other night & they wanted to have a Valentines theme so here are a couple of projects that I came up with.
I just love the new Artisan Embellishment Kit that SU has bought out in the latest mini.  This is fantastic for scrapbooking but I thought I would use some of it to decorate one of our little craft gift boxes.
Look at all the "lovelies" in the Artisan Embellishment Kit

I cut the box in half & made an "extension" using  a Window Sheet.  On the top of the box I have scrunched up a doily which I had stamped with the heart stamp that is covered in little hearts from the Hearts a Flutter stamp set.  The large hearts on the top are also from the same set & are cut out using the matching dies.  The rose on the top is made from the Cherry Cobbler Tulle.

Don't you just love the Flower Trim around the top of the box?  It is so easy to work with - you cut off a single rose or leave it in a strip as I have done.  If you have ever spent hours making flowers, you need to have this!  For just NZ$14.95 you get 1.8m which is aprox 90 flowers.

The hearts have been punched out of our yummy red Glimmer Paper - even when a project has a lace & pearls theme there is always a place for bling!
Don't you just love the Resin Rose over the Love Ticket.  It reminds me of an old ivory necklace that my Grandmother used to have.

Let's Sale-a-Brate!

Wow, we have so much to celebrate!  Not only is it Sale-a-Bration (SAB) time, but also the release of the new Seasonal Catalogue.
Some of my goodies from the new catalogue arrived yesterday so I am busy having fun.  There are so many products that I love, but don't take my word for it, click on the catalogue link on the side bar & see for yourself.  If you would like your own copy, email me & I will pop one in the post for you.

I don't have any finished projects to show you yet, but here are couple of cards using my favourite set that you can get for free with any order over $120 during SAB.

This is a card I made with my Stamp Club girls.  Notice the new Honey Comb Embossing Folder in the background?  The elephants were stamped in Island Indigo & cut out & another set were stamped in Pool Party & the ears were cut out to layer over the Island Indigo elephants.  The Island Indigo ribbon is another SAB freebee.  It comes in a pack with 3 rolls of satin ribbon (Island Indigo, Pool Party & Tangerine Tango) & a selection of buttons.

I love the colours on this card.  The base card stork is Tangerine Tango & Rich Razzelberry.  The DSP is  Floral District another one of my favourites.  The "strips" of Tangerine Tango are also from the SAB ribbon & button bundle.

Love, Family & Friendship.

We had such a special occasion the other week that it has even made me blog, which as you have no doubt noticed, doesn’t happen that often!  Our fabulous leader Jacque married her dream man Robert & they joined their 2 families together.  It was such a lovely day at Wenderholm where the ceremony & celebration were held & many of us had a tear in our eyes.  What made it so special was the inclusion of both of their children.  Rob gave Jacque’s daughters Maddy, Kjristi & Sofie a ring & Jacque gave Rob’s son Bayley a ring.

2012-09-15 006 027 blog

They were married by another one of our team members, the fabulous Bron Heslop in her Naval whites.  Of course there were Stampin’ Up! touches everywhere.  The flowers were tied with SU ribbon, the girls dresses were  trimmed with SU Crumb Cake tulle & even the cup cakes had toppers made with SU product.

With so many creative people at the wedding, I had to make sure that the present & card from my team was the best it could be.  We were told no presents but I just wanted to do something special for them.  It was time to think outside the square & out of my comfort zone.  As it happened the colours & vintage style I chose matched the style of the wedding perfectly.

2012-09-15 006 006 blog

I used one of our new Kraft Gift Boxes as the base.  I love these boxes & at $5.95 for 4 they are great value.  The panels on the sides & lids were created using the “faux patina” technique with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder & then layered on Early Espresso CS.

While I was playing around with some of the Crumb Cake Tulle  the other day, I accidently discovered that it melts & scrunches up when heated.  It looked a little bit like a butterfly in flight then when I looked again I realised that it also looked like a Bridal veil or train.  So after a bit of playing around, this is what I came up with.

I have used Gold Card Stock for the base card & embossed the edge with the Delicate Designs folder which I love.  For the top panel I used the same technique as I did for the box but used the Lacy Brocade folder from the Holiday Mini instead.  The finishing touch was the addition of small hearts punched for our yummy Champagne Glimmer Paper.
