Meet the Team
I have just been promoted to Senior Supervisor & knowing my love of bling, my lovely upline Julia Leece gave me this cool hand wash pump - only trouble is, my friend Vivian also loves bling & it has her name on it!
The above pictures are of one of my new Down-Lines Callena & myself at our local Herald Island Market. Callena has made a really cool felt book for small children using the Big Shot, make sure you go have a look.
I have 2 other Down-Lines as well. Barbara is a very creative crafter, particularly with off the page projects. She also runs stamping birthday parties for kids, so if you have children or grandchildren with birthdays coming up, keep her in mind!
My newest Down-Line is Stephanie. She doesn't have a blog yet, but she is also very creative & I'm sure you will seem some great creations from her soon.
I also need to mention our super cleaver computer expert Karen. Not only does she produce amazing craft work, but she slays dragons & rescues us when we muck up our blogs! Thanks Karen

Bad Kitty
It was my sister Debbie’s 40th Birthday a couple of weeks ago & we had an Eighties Theme with compulsory fancy dress. We had an absolute ball with 80’s music, food & no “adult” supervision!
Debbie was really into pink & grey in the 80’s, so I chose those colours to make her card. She also loves cats & wine, so I think this was rather appropriate! I did get the original idea for the cat from a US Demonstrator, unfortunately I can’t find the link again to give her credit.
Debbie also likes bling, so Stampin’ Up!s new self adhesive Jewels ($11.95 for 150) were perfect for kitties collar. The pink card is our new Blushing Bride & I have also used Basic Grey & Concord Crush. The Designer Series Paper is one of my favourites Lap of Luxury.
Taking my creative streak a bit further, I decided to make the cake as well. Now I am not a baker & certainly have had no experience icing cakes! Sticking with the 80’s theme, I decided to try making a Pac-Man cake, after all it is only a round cake with a wedge cut out for a mouth, what could possibly go wrong?! The cake itself was perfect, but nobody told me that adding food colouring to white chocolate will make it go hard & lumpy! With much perseverance & food colouring all over my kitchen, here is the result.
I made the ghosts by covering polystyrene balls with royal icing.
I guess you want to know what “we” looked like! The picture below shows me (excuse my wonky face, I’m not drunk it is just from the remainder of my Bells Palsy) In the middle is my other sister Rose & Debbie is on the end.
It was lots of fun back combing our hair & using heaps of hairspray like when we were 20, shame the mini skirts didn’t quite look as good!
Until next time

Elements of Style
Elements of Style ($39.95 clear mount, $59.95 wood mount) is my new “favourite” stamp set! I love water colouring & this set is just perfect for it. It also has a really adorable hummingbird.
I stamped the flower image on Water Colour Paper using Black Staz-On & then added “splashes” of colour using Tangerine Tango & Poppy Parade Stamp ‘n’ Write Markers. Next I blended the colours using an Aquapainter. The flower centres are coloured with Daffodil Delight & the leaves with Wild Wasabi & Pear Pizzazz.
Haven’t Stampin’ Up! come up with some fantastic names for our new colours?! My favourite colour at the moment is Poppy Parade which I have used for the card base. The finishing touch is some gorgeous new Whisper White Organza Ribbon.

A Fluttering By…
This card is made using 2 stamps from the Autumn mini that are carrying over to the new catalogue. I did CASE this idea from a lovely US Demonstrator, but have changed it slightly. Unfortunately I can’t find the link to her blog now, so my apologies for not linking your blog to mine.
I have only used Whisper White & Basic Black because it gives the card more impact. The stamps used are the Medallion ($40.95) & the All a Flutter butterfly stamp from the a la Carte selection. Naturally I had to add some Dazzling Diamonds to the wings! The slightly crooked greeting (that’s what happens when you stamp while watching TV) is from the very versatile Teeny Tiny Sentiments ($75.95 wood mount or $60.95 clear mount for 24 stamps).
To finish the card off, I stamped a pair of butterflies on the inside. Keep reading my blog for more projects using the All a Flutter stamp coming soon.

Oh La La!
I just love this new Artistic Etchings Stamp Set. It is so versatile – you can use it for backgrounds, scrapbooking, travel, vintage – just let your imagination go wild! This 6 piece set is priced at just $40.95 or wood mount or $32.95 for clear mount.
This card uses only 3 colours – Very Vanilla, Real Red & Basic Black. The background texture is created using the new Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder ($19.50) & the Top Note Die ($52.50). {please excuse the reflection, I had already bagged this card before I remembered to take a photo!}
This card features a really effective but simple masking technique. Firstly I stamped the images in Black Staz-On. I then masked each image & sponged from the edge of the mask inwards. Finally I embossed the whole layer using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.

Hello Baby!
I don’t normally buy the baby stamp sets – I make my sister buy them instead because she has a new & used baby gear shop (Potential Unlimited in Northcote Point) – but when I saw the new Baby Bundle Stamp Set and the Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel, I just had to have them!
I made the card itself using the Movers & Shapers Die in the Big Shot – This die not only cuts out the perfect size card, but you can also change the window shape & move the window to where ever you want it on the card. Don’t you just love the wee baby peeping out the window!
Open the card & there you find the invite details.
Baby Bundle is available in the new catalogue from 1 Sep. It is a 16 piece set (including a teddy bear!) and is priced at $59.95 for wood mount or $47.95 fro clear mount (that’s only $3 per stamp, what a bargain!)
The next card features the Baby Tees Jumbo Wheel ($19.50). I used the Top Note Die in the Big Shot to make the “frame” & the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder to create the textured background. I then used the wheel to stamp the base image. I then rolled the wheel on another piece of Whisper White Card Stock, coloured the images using a blender pen, cut them out & used Stampin’ Dimensionals to make them “pop”. The finishing touch is a drop or two of Crystal Effects & of course some Dazzling Diamonds.

Out With The Old, In With The New
Can you believe that the time to order from the Summer Mini Catalogue has just about come to an end?! You only have until 31 March to place your orders for anything you would like from this catalogue. Remember, if you spend $120 or more before 31 March you will also qualify to choose a FREE Sale-a-Bration stamp set! Some of the products from this catalogue may go into the next main catalogue due out in September, but I can’t guarantee it, so if you have fallen in love with something ………. order it now!
Of course with the Summer Mini ending, you will soon be able to view the new Autumn/Winter Mini – and boy is it exciting! I had to buy just about everything (woops!) We finally have the long awaited Big Shot and I have to tell you it is awesome. I have used other die-cut machines, but nothing compares to the Big Shot – it is so quick & easy.
We have new In-Colours (Razzleberry, Melon Mambo & Soft Suede) and of course lots of new stamps and accessories. You can now also purchase your stamps in either wood mount OR clear mount – stay tuned for more.
I will be giving you some sneak peaks over the next few days. If you would like a copy of the new catalogue please Contact Me.
Isn’t this gift box just adorable? I made it using the new Fancy Favour Die. It only takes a couple of seconds to run it through the Big Shot & it is all cut out & scored, ready for you to decorate. You will notice a new colour, this is Razzleberry – my new favourite. I have also used a new stamp set Cottage Garden & a new Jumbo Wheel, Very Vintage.

It’s Magic!

Now how do you do that I hear you ask?
Here’s the tutorial

Supplies
Baja Breeze CS (1/2 an A4 cut lengthways + Scrap for Tab) Whisper White CS (20cm x 13 & 13¾ x 9½ cm)
Acetate Window Sheet (12½ x 7 ¼ cm) Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon (30 cm)
Watercolour Paper (2cm strip cut from side) Water Colour Wonder Crayons (Bold Brights & Earth Elements)
Sticky Strip Mini Glue Dots
Staz-On Black Ink Pad Chocolate Chip Ink Pad
Chocolate Chip Jumbo Cartridge Baja Breeze Ink Refill
Tools
Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (SAMJ) Stamping sponge
Stampin’ Around Wheel Guide & Jumbo Handle Aqua Painters & Blender Pens
Curly Label, 1” Circle, Round Tab & Corner Rounder Punches Crop-A-Dile
Crimper Heat Gun
Handy towels & plastic plate
Instructions
1. Use Wheel guide & Jumbo Friendly Words Wheel to cover 1 side of the large piece of Baja Breeze (BB) with Chocolate Chip (CC). Fold in ½ on score line.
2. Using the Curly Label Punch, push it as far as it reaches from the bottom of the front of the card & punch hole. Line punch up from bottom again so that it joins the 1st hole & punch again. Repeat from the top of the card. You should end up with a large hole in the shape of the Curly Label Punch.
3. Sponge all outside edges of BB card with CC.
4. Ink up the bird from Friends 24-7 in Staz-On black & stamp in the middle of the Watercolour paper.
5. Stamp bird on SAMJ sheet. Place acetate over Watercolour paper, then place SAMJ sheet over this. Line up the 2 birds & place SAMJ handle. Remove SAMJ sheet & stamp bird on the acetate (be careful not to rock the stamp or it will smudge).
6. Colour in the bird on the paper using Water Colour Crayons & Blender Pens (you need to make the colours quite bright).
7. Using an Aqua Painter, pick up some BB ink off a palette. You can vary the colour by adding more water. “Wash” around the outside of the bird. Add more ink to make it darker if you wish. If it is too wet, wick up water with a handy towel. Speed up drying with a Heat Gun.
8. Crimp scrap of Watercolour paper & cut to width of card. Tie knot in ribbon & adhere to crimped paper using glue dots. Adhere this to front of card with ribbon ends adhered to inside front of card
9. Fold the larger piece of Whisper White (WW) in ½ & use a piece of Sticky Strip to adhere together down long side as close to the edge as possible to make a pocket. Adhere Sticky Strip to both long sides on one side of the pocket. Adhere to inside front of card over ribbon ends.
10. Use 1” Circle to punch ½ circle in front of card where the pull tag will go.
11. Use Corner Rounder Punch on all corners of the other piece of WW. Stamp greeting in the middle & sponge edges in CC if desired. Adhere to inside of card using SNAIL.
12. Align the 2 bird images & adhere together with folded Round Tab & Sticky Strip. Punch hole in Tab with Crop-a-dile & thread through ribbon.
13. Slide acetate between the pocket & card front & the watercoloured image in the pocket. Pull it out – Magic!

Crazy For Cup-Cakes
Cup-cakes are so “trendy” right now – & what’s not to love about them, they look good & taste even better!
This month at my Stamp Club meeting, we made a card featuring our fabulous “Crazy for Cupcakes” Stamp Set. I got the idea from a class I went to at Jacquelyn Pederson's but I mad a few alterations.
The insert with the tab at the top has an Emergency Chocolate Cake recipe. I also played around with this as the original recipe was a bit dry & hard.
Of course we had to “ice” the cup-cakes with Dazzling Diamonds & the cherries were made to “pop” using Crystal Effects.
Emergency Chocolate Cake
4 Tbsp Flour
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
4 Tbsp Sugar
2 Tbsp Cocoa
1 Small Egg
3 Tbsp Milk
3 Tbsp Oil
Splash of Vanilla
3 Tbsp Chocolate Chips
Mix all dry ingredients in a large mug. Pour in all wet ingredients and mix well. Add Choc Chips & mix again. Microwave for 2 1/2 –3 mins.
This is a cool card that my fabulous Up-Line Julia Leece made for my birthday. Aren’t the colours great? She has used the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper that is in our current Mini-Catalogue.

Happy Valentine’s Day
I hope you all had a great day & that some of your partners remembered! Mine didn’t, but at least he remembered my birthday this year! This is the card I made my husband for Valentine’s day.
I used Basic Black, Riding Hood Red and Vellum card stock & also Riding Hood Red Designer series paper. I had lots of fun with this card. I stamped the triple heart image from the I{Heart}Heart Stamp Set in black on red CS & in red on vellum and cut them out using the Heart to Heart Punch. I also used the Full Heart Punch – so much easier than cutting them out by hand! The sentiments and the swirls are rub-ons from Laughter & Love & Chit Chat.
Making the inside was the fun part. I used the 1-3/4” Punch to punch a black circle & then cut it into a spiral (a bit like the spirals we used to make with Minties wrappers). The outside of the spiral is attached to the bottom of the card with a glue dot, I then put a glue dot on the top of the middle of the spiral & closed the card. When you open the card you then have a “spring” to attach all of your other hearts to & the recipient gets a nice surprise when they open the card.

It Must Be Love
This weeks challenge on Just Add Ink was to make a project using hearts. I decided it was about time I did a scrap-book page as I have been a bit slack with them lately.
I was going to add another page to my wedding album, but I didn’t have any large photos & my printer was out of ink, so I used this one of My Step-Daughter Megan and her Husband Hamish – yes that is a beer bottle in his hand!
I wanted to keep it simple to focus on the photo, but I love the elegant effect the flourish from Baroque Motifs gives when it is embossed in silver.
I’m not a person that likes a lot of journaling on my pages, so I added their name & the date with White Gel Pen the “friend” stamp from the I{Heart}Heart stamp set, which I think says it all.
The heart border along the photo was made using the Heart to Heart punch and the large silver heart was cut out using the Full Heart punch.

Bloomin’ Lovely
Wow it is hot! I have just been to the Warehouse to buy a tiny desk so I could put my computer in my bedroom as it has an air-conditioner so I can actually do some work. It’s not really big enough for crafting, but we’ll see.
Today's card was inspired by a wonderful Dunedin Demonstrator, Megan McDonald. If you would like to try making these flowers, Megan has created a brilliant Tutorial.
I was really pleased with the way the flowers came out and although a bit fiddly, they are quite easy. The dark flower is made from Rose Red Card Stock & the 2 pink ones are made using Very Vanilla CS that I have coloured with Regal Rose ink, sponges & sponge daubers. I have concentrated the colour in the centre of the lightest one & on the outside of the darkest one. They were all sprayed with water, as it definitely gives them a better appearance. I used the Crimper and 5-Petal Flower Punch to make the leaves.
The card itself is made from Very Vanilla & Always Artichoke CS. The background is stamp with the script stamp from the Rustic Rooster Hostess Set. I have also used Sincere Salutations, Frames with a Flourish, Very Vanilla Ribbon, Large Grommets & Rhinestone Brads.
You couldn’t post this card unless you made a box for it to go in, but it is lovely card to give someone for a special occasion.
Happy Stamping!

Just Add Ink Challenge
Just add Ink is a fantastic new challenge site run by a group of Australian & New Zealand Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators, with challenges open only to Kiwis & Australians.
Be sure to have a look at there blog and why not challenge yourself and enter!
The first challenge is a colour challenge using the following colours:
Now these are not normally colours I would choose to use together, but that is what a challenge is all about – to get you out of your comfort zone & to start thinking creatively.
Here is my entry, it is an Easel Card. We will be using this fold technique to make a card in classes later this year.
The Stamp sets I used are Pun Fun ($68.95) & Starring You ($28.95). I also used the following punches: Star ($24.95), Wide & Scallop Oval ($35.95).
Of course nothing says stars like Dazzling Diamonds!

I {Heart} Hearts for Haiti
One thing that really makes me proud to be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, is how they always help out with good causes. Last year we raised funds for the bush fires in Australia and for breast cancer, now we are raising funds for American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund.
If you have a look at our Founder Shelli's Blog, you will see that SU! in the USA have already made up and distributed 5,000 Hygiene Kits.
It is so sad watching the news every night and seeing all Haitians who’s lives have been disrupted or taken due magnitude 7.0 earthquake that devastated Haiti on 12 January, 2010.
If you would like to lend a helping hand, here’s what you can do:
From now until 28 February 2010, $2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set you sell will be donated to the American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.
I love this set. I haven’t had a play with it yet, but when I do, I will put up some samples. The great thing is, that it co-ordinates with the Full Heart and Heart to Heart Punches ($35.95 each).
If you would like to purchase this set and help out with Haiti Disaster Relief, please Contact Me.

Fresh-Cut Frenzy!
This month for Stamp Club we used the Fresh-Cuts Stamp Set ($45.95) and Fresh-Cut Notes ($20.95). The note cards are such fun to play with. You can just let your imagination run wild – you don’t even have to use the Fresh-Cuts stamp set if don’t want to. They are a great idea to make up as a gift, in fact as each pack comes with 15 note cards and 15 matching envelopes, you could make a few gifts sets from each pack!
Each card has a die-cut flower in the middle with little petals that you can push out. It also matches the 5-Petal Flower Punch ($35.95) so you can have lots of fun embellishing them. We also decorated the inside of the cards and the envelopes too. Below are some of the samples I made.
In this black and white example, I have used the punched out petals and a black 5-Petal Flower punch-out to make the spiral flower on the card. Black & white is always so effective.
This card was a bit of fun. I used the colours from the Tall Tales DSP ($19.95/pack) for inspiration and the giraffe stamp from the matching Animal Stories Stamp Set ($28.95). I used Crystal Effects ($13.95) to “pop” the spots on the giraffe and the centres of the flowers. I also punched a giraffe head from the DSP and used it in the Build-a-Brad ($22.95/pack) in the centre of the flower.
The following are some examples made by my club girls – didn’t they do a great job!
Barbara
