Crazy For Cup-Cakes

Cup-cakes are so “trendy” right now – & what’s not to love about them, they look good & taste even better!

This month at my Stamp Club meeting, we made a card featuring our fabulous “Crazy for Cupcakes” Stamp Set.  I got the idea from a class I went to at Jacquelyn Pederson's but I mad a few alterations.

The insert with the tab at the top has an Emergency Chocolate Cake recipe.  I also played around with this as the original recipe was a bit dry & hard.

Of course we had to “ice” the cup-cakes with Dazzling Diamonds & the cherries were made to “pop” using Crystal Effects.

Emergency Chocolate Cake

4 Tbsp Flour

1/2 tsp Baking Powder

4 Tbsp Sugar

2 Tbsp Cocoa

1 Small Egg

3 Tbsp Milk

3 Tbsp Oil

Splash of Vanilla

3 Tbsp Chocolate Chips

Mix all dry ingredients in a large mug.  Pour in all wet ingredients and mix well.  Add Choc Chips & mix again.  Microwave for 2 1/2 –3 mins.

Happy Valentine’s Day

I hope you all had a great day & that some of your partners remembered!  Mine didn’t, but at least he remembered my birthday this year!  This is the card I made my husband for Valentine’s day.

valentines 004 (Small)I used Basic Black, Riding Hood Red and Vellum card stock & also Riding Hood Red Designer series paper.  I had lots of fun with this card.  I stamped the triple heart image from the I{Heart}Heart Stamp Set in black on red CS & in red on vellum and cut them out using the Heart to Heart Punch.  I also used the Full Heart Punch – so much easier than cutting them out by hand!  The sentiments and the swirls are rub-ons from Laughter & Love & Chit Chat.

Making the inside was the fun part.  I used the 1-3/4” Punch to punch a black circle & then cut it into a spiral (a bit like the spirals we used to make with Minties wrappers). The outside of the spiral is attached to the bottom of the card with a glue dot, I then put a glue dot on the top of the middle of the spiral & closed the card.  When you open the card you then have a “spring” to attach all of your other hearts to & the recipient gets a nice surprise when they open the card.

It Must Be Love

This weeks challenge on Just Add Ink was to make a project using hearts.  I decided it was about time I did a scrap-book page as I have been a bit slack with them lately.

I was going to add another page to my wedding album, but I didn’t have any large photos & my printer was out of ink, so I used this one of My Step-Daughter Megan and her Husband Hamish – yes that is a beer bottle in his hand!

su 052 (Small) I wanted to keep it simple to focus on the photo, but I love the elegant effect the flourish from Baroque Motifs gives when it is embossed in silver.

I’m not a person that likes a lot of journaling on my pages, so I added their name & the date with White Gel Pen the “friend” stamp from the  I{Heart}Heart stamp set, which I think says it all.

The heart border along the photo was made using the Heart to Heart punch and the large silver heart was cut out using the Full Heart punch.

Happy Stamping
